Objectives: In this tutorial, we derive the Chain Rule. Several examples
using the Chaion Rule are worked out. After working through these materials,
the student should be able to use the Chain Rule to differentiate certain functions.
Theorem. Let F be the composition of two differentiable functions
f and g; F(x) = f(g(x)). Then F is differentiable and
F'(x) = f '(g(x)) g '(x)|
- LiveMath notebook which illustrates the use of the chain rule.
- Drill problems on using the chain rule.
