Transmath Newsletter no. 4 -------------------------- Dear All, I am please to report this month that we have been successful in obtaining some further funding. This will enable us to develop new materials and continue to support the existing Transmath software. New Modules ----------- Matrices and Vectors are ready. They are included in the current release (called version 1.0) and you are welcome to download this latest version. In Matrices 2 (Transformations), there is a problem with one of the examples, caused by a bug in the postscript viewer supplied with Mathematica. Wolfram Research is aware of this problem and, hopefully, it will be rectified in future releases of Mathematica. Please send us feedback on Transmath, particularly on bugs, mistakes and any comments on the mathematical content. World Wide Web -------------- Our WWW server is now available to the rest of the world. Go to it by http://caliban.leeds.ac.uk If you have any suggestions regarding the content, please contact us at the address below. Old Newsletters --------------- For those who are new to this list, you will find copies of the earlier newsletters in the directory /pub/newsletters/ on our anonymous ftp server. Previous newsletters will tell you about our project, the hardware and software you need to run Transmath, joining and leaving this mailing list and publications about our project. See below on how to access the server. FTP --- All the completed transmath modules are available via anonymous ftp at caliban.leeds.ac.uk (ip address 129.11.36.19) **** Remember to change to binary mode before downloading the files.**** Sui Cheng --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Sui Cheng e-mail: sui@amsta.leeds.ac.uk Dr. Amanda Kelly e-mail: a.d.kelly@leeds.ac.uk Dr. Simon Maunder e-mail: simon@amsta.leeds.ac.uk Department of Applied Maths University of Leeds tel: (+44) 113 233 5174 Leeds LS2 9JT fax: (+44) 113 242 9925 U.K. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
