TMP SWINGS INTO ACTION FOR 1995-96: Since the beginning of October we have been using our revised learning modules with first-year students in the Departments of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College. The initial feedback has been very good: it is clear to us that the new module structure that we've adopted is right (which you can read about at http://othello.ma.ic.ac.uk/BigChangesAfoot.html), and what remains for us to do is to "fine tune" the particular experiments within each module. EXHIBITION - "EMBEDDING TECHNOLOGY INTO TEACHING", 29 NOVEMBER: TMP will be exhibiting at this joint TLTP/CTI exhibition, on Wednesday 29 November, Ramada Hotel, Heathrow, London. If you are attending, come along and speak to us at Stand #34. We will also be distributing Mathematica information provided by Wolfram Research Europe Limited (including: Mathematica products, educational prices, site license schemes). The exhibition is freely open to all, without pre-booking; for details on this event, go to: http://www.icbl.hw.ac.uk/tltp/flyer.html http://www.icbl.hw.ac.uk/tltp/exhibition.html "FROM INSTRUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION: COMPUTER ALGEBRA AND THE LEARNER": An outline of Phil Ramsden's talk at the International Conference on Technology in Mathematics Teaching, Napier University, Edinburgh in September is now accessible on our WWW server at: http://othello.ma.ic.ac.uk/articles/ICTMT95.html Also note the following articles new to our WWW server: * "Highly-interactive Mathematica-based learning: philosophy, implementation and evaluation" http://othello.ma.ic.ac.uk/articles/Prague.html * "Four illustrations for the CTI Maths and Stats Newsletter" http://othello.ma.ic.ac.uk/articles/CTI-Aug-95.html * "Computer-based teaching and learning in mathematics: some recent experiences with the Mathematica system" http://othello.ma.ic.ac.uk/articles/Luton.html FEEDBACK: We appreciate very much all comments and suggestions about our materials, be they good or bad, superficial or profound. If you do download and look at our stuff, please spend a few minutes collecting your thoughts, pressing computer keys, and sending the result to us (tranmath-proj@ic.ac.uk). It is important for us to be able to show our paymasters that we do have some "customers" out there.
