What do I need ?
================
Due to our limited access to some architectures we can't provide
the latest MuPAD versions for all platforms. To use MuPAD you
will need the latest available binary package for your platform
and the according share package of the same MuPAD version.
E.g. to install MuPAD 1.4.2 for Linux you will need the packages
bin_linux_142.tgz + share_142.tgz
(The only exception is MuPAD for Darwin. The package
bin_darwin_200.tgz contains all necessary files)
These binary packages are available:
Release 2.5
-----------
bin_linux_250.tgz - Linux 2.x with glibc >= 2.1.x
bin_solaris_250.tgz - SunOS 5.4 or higher
+ share_250.tgz
If you encounter problems with one of these installations,
please try first to use the shared libraries provided in
the files linux_libs.tgz and solaris_libs.tgz. You only
need to unpack them into your MuPAD installation.
Release 2.0
-------------
bin_darwin_200.tgz - Apple Darwin (MacOS X)
Release 1.4.2
-------------
bin_i386_142.tgz - Linux 2.0 with libc 5.4.x
+ share_142.tgz
Release 1.4.1
-------------
bin_ibmrs6000_141.tgz - IBM RS6000 / AIX
bin_sgi5_141.tgz - SGI / IRIX 5.x
bin_sun4_141.tgz - SunOS 4.5.1
+ share_141.tgz
Release 1.4.0
-------------
bin_hp_140.tgz - HP-UX 10
bin_sgi6_140.tgz - SGI / IRIX 6.x
+ share_140.tgz
Release 1.3.0
-------------
bin_alpha_130.tgz - OSF1 V4.0 DEC Alpha
bin_freebsd_130.tgz - FreeBSD 2.2 for PC
bin_i86pc_130.tgz - SunOS 5.5 for PC
bin_nextx86_130.tgz - NeXT Mach 3.3 (Intel 586)
bin_openbsd_130.tgz - OpenBSD 2.1 for PC
bin_pmax_130.tgz - ULTRIX 4.3 MP-3.22 RISC
+ share_130.tgz
+ INSTALL_130.html
Release 1.2.9
-------------
bin_aminetbsd_129.tgz - NetBSD 1.2 on Amiga
+ share_129.tgz
Installation
------------
1) create a MuPAD directory (e.g. /usr/local/MuPAD)
2) unpack the binary package and the share package
in this directory with GNU tar (*):
tar xzpf bin_${ARCH}_XXX.tgz
tar xzpf share_XXX.tgz
(*) If you don't have GNU tar first gunzip the *.tgz
archives and then use your system tar.
3) Extend your path
(for tcsh/csh in ~/.cshrc)
set path = ($path /usr/local/MuPAD/share/bin)
(for sh/bash/ksh in ~/.profile)
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/MuPAD/share/bin
export PATH
4) Now you can start 'mupad' or 'xmupad'
If you have XView/X11 library problems refer to the ftp
sub-directory XVIEW. Also refer to /usr/local/MuPAD/TroubleShooting
Registration
------------
The unregistered MuPAD installation has a memory limit.
For registration please contact info@sciface.com
Once you have received your registration code simply start
mupad or xmupad (as a user with write access to the MuPAD
tree) and type:
register( "code_name", "code" );
where code_name and code are taken from the MuPAD license
agreement.
*** Note that the registration keys have changed for version 2.0. ***
Users of earlier versions need a new key.
