This approach makes it possible to solve principally new classes of problems and to obtain new results for problems solved with standard methods of calculations. UniCalc is intended to solve direct and inverse problems represented by systems of algebraic and differential equations, inequalities and logic expressions. The system may be overdetermined or underdetermined, and the system's parameters can be given imprecisely. UniCalc allows calculations to be performed both with integers and real variables that may be mixed in the system. As a result of calculations, a set of intervals containing all real solutions of the system is found. UniCalc may be used to solve a wide range of application problems in the field of process simulation and engineering calculations, in quantitative problem analysis in scientific studies as well as for economic calculations. UniCalc is particularly useful for engineers, researchers, designers and other specialists that face real mathematical problems of small and medium dimension in their routine practice. It is often that UniCalc makes it possible to solve problems which cannot be tackled with traditional applied mathematics: strongly non-linear system with inexact and varied data, integer problems. ----------------------------------------------------------------- This is a demo-version of the UniCalc solver. It has all features of the full version of UniCalc but allows to solve only small problems. A problem to be solved can involve up to five variables and up to ten expressions (equations, inequalities, etc.). The demo-version is distributed freely and may be used in any noncommercial aims. To get the full version of UniCalc you are invited to contact authors. Our address: 630090, Russia, Novosibirsk, pr. ak. We hope you will find UniCalc usefull, effective and convenient. Good luck! HOW TO INSTALL UniCalc To install the UniCalc program on your computer, you need to do the following: 1) Turn on your computer; 2) Find a disk drive that has enough free space to install the program. The program requires 650 kilobytes of free disk space. 3) Insert the installation diskette with the program into the appropriate floppy drive (for instance, A:). 4) Change your current drive to the one where the installation diskette has been inserted; for example, if it is drive A:, type A: 5) Run the installation batch file INSTALL.BAT with one parameter - the name of the directory in which you want to install the program. For example, if you want install the program in directory UNICALC on drive C:, type the following: INSTALL C:\UNICALC After the command is executed, a directory with the specified name will be created on the specified device; all the files necessary for the operation of the program will be copied into the directory. In addition, the directory will contain a subdirectory EXAMPLES, holding some demos, and a subdirectory MOVIE which contains a computer "movie" which demonstrates the use of the UniCalc solver. HOW TO RUN UniCalc To run UniCalc after it has been installed, do the following: 1) Change your current drive to the one where the program has been installed; for example, if you installed UniCalc on your C: drive, type C: 2) Change the current directory to the UniCalc directory; for instance, if the directory's name is UNICALC, type CD \UNICALC 3) Type the name of the program in the command line: UNICALC HOW TO VIEW THE DEMONSTRATION MOVIE To view the demonstration movie, do the following : 1) Change your current drive to the one where UniCalc has been installed; for example, if you installed it on your C: drive, type C: 2) Change the current directory to the movie directory; for instance, if the UniCalc directory's name is UNICALC, type CD \UNICALC\MOVIE 3) Type the name of the batch file in the command line: DEMO The movie scenes are changed automatically in twenty seconds. You may get the next scene by pressing any key (the left mouse button). To return to the previous scene use the PgUp key (the right mouse button). Press Esc (left + right mouse buttons) to exit. ----------------------------------------------------------------- To browse the advertisment movie You should run DEMO.BAT The movie scenes are changed automatically in twenty seconds.
