WPLOT Description and Installation Instructions WPLOT is a Windows program that plots two and three-dimensional data. Up to 250 sets of data can be plotted on the same 2-Dimensional plot using either one or two vertical axes. There can be up to 16000 data points per data set. Each data set can be plotted as a line plot, a smooth curve plot, a scatter plot, a step plot or a histogram. Multiple data sets can also be plotted as a 3-Dimensional plot. The plot can have linear or log axes with auto or manual scaling. Two-Dimensional plots can also have cumulative normal probability axes, error bars and descending as well as ascending axes. Data can be fit by a smooth curve or a least squares polynomial or exponential. The Fast Fourier Transform can be used to fit the data with a discrete Fourier series and the magnitudes of the FFT coefficients can be plotted. Mathematical transformations of the data can be performed by entering equations that operate on one or more data sets. Functions can be evaluated and plotted. The WPLOT software comes with an auxiliary program, WFIT, which can fit a nonlinear function to data and use WPLOT to plot the fit. The WFIT program was originally written for DOS. It was compiled as a Windows program so that it could use the WPLOT program to do the plotting but it does not have a true Windows menu interface as does the WPLOT program. The WPLOT software consists of the following files: WPLOT.DOC - This file. WPLOT.EXE - The WPLOT plotting program. WPLOT.HLP - WPLOT Help file. WFIT.EXE - Program that finds a nonlinear curve fit. *.PLT - Example plot files that can be loaded by WPLOT. *.FIT - Example curve fits that can be loaded by WFIT. To install the WPLOT software on a hard disk, make a directory that will contain the software, C:\WPLOT for example. Then copy to this directory all of the WPLOT files listed above including the example PLT and FIT files. To install WPLOT as a Windows icon: 1. Select a Windows group. 2. Select the Program Manager's "File" menu item. 3. Select the "New" sub-menu item. 4. Select the "Program Item" option. 5. Enter the following information: Description: WPLOT Command Line: C:\WPLOT\WPLOT.EXE Working Directory: C:\WPLOT Follow a similar procedure to install the WFIT program. To see a demo of the types of plots that WPLOT can make, start WPLOT and select the menu item "File" then "Load Plot Command File" and load the file DEMO.PLT. The file DEMO.PLT and all of the other example PLT files must be in the working directory specified above. You can also see the demo before installing WPLOT as a Windows icon. Use the DOS command CD to change the default directory to the directory containing the WPLOT program and example PLT files, for example: CD \WPLOT Then start Windows and the WPLOT program: win wplot demo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Known Bugs: V1.4 - Legends will be positioned incorrectly if they are entered on a plot that is scrolled. Will be fixed in a future version.
