Thank you for downloading Triangle Solver v1.5.2.
Please open this document in TeachText v7.x or SimpleText because there are
pictures in it that only these two applications will display.
Ê
If you provide sufficient information Triangle Solver will complete the unknown
angles and lengths of a triangle as well as the area of the triangle.
Triangle Solver will complete any SAA, SSA, SSS, ASA or SAS triangle.
Note: Triangle Solver will solve for only one set of answers for a SSA (the
ambiguous case) triangle if it has two sets of answers.
Ê
You need Microsoft Excel 4.0 (or later) or a program that can convert Excel 4
documents.
Open Triangle Solver v1.5.2. (Triangle Solver should already have a 3-4-5
triangle in it.)
Enter your known information in cells B4:B9. (The blue cells if you have a color
monitor.)
Note: Angles should be entered in degrees!
Ê
Your completed triangle's information should appear in cells D4:D9 and cells
F4:F7. (The green cells if you have a color monitor.)
In order to solve a triangle Triangle Solver will need 3 peices of information.
If you imput 2 or less, you will recieve a "More?" message. If you input 4 or
more, you will receive a "Less Info !" message.
Triangle Solver will check for common errors in the information such as:
1) Negative numbers, 2) Total angles greater than 180¡, 3) More than one angle
of 90¡, 4) Sum of one or two angles that equals 180¡. These types of errors will
show up as a "Not Real !" message.
Other types of errors will show up as an "Error" message.
____________
Triangle Solver is E-Mailware or Postcardware - your choice. If you use Triangle
Solver, **Please** send me an E-Mail or a Postcard. Writing a short E-mail or a
Postcard is not that hard and it doesn't take that long to do, and receiving them
inspires me to continue work on Triangle Solver.
If you would like to see how Triangle Solver works, I can provide the password to
unhide and unlock all of its cells. Just send me a message and I will return the
password and instructions to unlock it for you.
Please don't hold me responsible if Triangle Solver gives you information that
messes something up! Just write to me saying the problem and I will try to fix
it.
Be sure to visit the new Triangle Solver World-Wide-Web page if you can. It can
be accessed at the following site:

____________
Ê
I have considered the future enhancements listed here. If you have additional
ones or would like to see one of them happen, I'd like to hear from you.
-adding an option for radians or degrees.
-adding notification that a SSA triange has two solutions.
-solveing the second solution for a SSA triangle that as two solutions.
-converting triangle solver to ClarisWorks, MS-Works, etc...
-rewriting triangle solver so that it would be a stand-alone-application.
____________
Ê
v1.0 (6/10/94)
Original release.
v1.1 (6/13/94)
-Fixed bug in v1.0's cell C62.
-Fixed problem that would bring up an unneeded "Known Problem."
-Added ability to solve triangles when 2 angles and one length were given and had
an angle greater than 90¡.
-added custom icon.
v1.2 (8/13/94)
-Added "Area:", "Triangle Given:", "Perimeter:", and "Right Triangle?".
-Added new Headers in "Read Me".

-Added "ASA" to "Triangle Given:".
-Added ability to solve a SSA triangle in which the given angle is greater than
90¡.
v1.4 (11/01/94)
-Protected Triangle Solver so that accidental changes could not happen.
-Added error detection for: 1) Negative Numbers, 2) Total angles greater than
180¡, 3) More than one angle of 90¡, 4) Sum of one or two angles that equals
180¡. These types of errors will show up as "Not Real !".
-Added "Less Info !" for when more than three pieces of info are given.
-Added "Error" for all errors such as "#DEV/0" or "#NUM!".
