DataThief.sea.hqx DataThief Kees Huyser & Jan van der Laan Computer Science Group of Nuclear Physics Section National Institute for Nuclear Physics PO Box 4395 1009 AJ Amsterdam The Netherlands DataThief takes a PICT file of a graph or scatter plot and converts the data to a table which can be saved in text format. Ususally, the PICT file would be from a scanner of a printed graph, but any PICT representation of a graph will work. For example, a graph can be generated in another mathematical application and saved in PICT form, then DataThief can be used to extract data values of the graph. (Useful for constructing examples for studying data in a classroom setting.) For scatter plots, the user obtains the data by clicking on each of the data points. For curves, there is a useful trace facility. There is online help and instruction. The program runs on current Macintosh configurations. -------------------------------------------------------------- Location in Mathematics Archives: Anonymous FTP: /mac/graphingAids /mac/miscellaneous Gopher: (First select "Software" then "Macintosh software arranged by subjects") Graphing Aids / DataThief Miscellaneous Programs / DataThief --------------------------------------------------------------
