LifeMaker.sea.hqx LifeMaker 2.1 Jesse Jones From the author's description: "LifeMaker is a cellular automata program of color Macs. The universe starts at some initial state and evolves according to a simple local rule. ConwayUs Game of Life is by far the best known CA. LifeMaker includes ConwayUs Life along with sixteen other rules. Unlike most Life programs LifeMaker uses color, allows you to change the size of the 'universe', and lets you create your own rules." The program has great flexibility in modifying the pattern in progress -- transformations can be selected from the meny and there is even a tool box for additional drawing, erasing, selecting and painting. New rules can be written in Pascal-like code. The documentation is very helpful, even including sections on the basics of cellular automata nd another on applications. It concludes with an annotated bibliography. The program will run on monochrome systems, but it is best with color. It runs on system 6.07 or greater, and it is 32-bit clean. LifeMaker requires 32 Bit QuickDraw 1.1 or above. -------------------------------------------------------------- Location in Mathematics Archives: Anonymous FTP: /mac/discreteMath /mac/lifeSciences Gopher: (First select "Software" then "Macintosh software arranged by subjects") Discrete Math / LifeMaker Life Sciences / LifeMaker --------------------------------------------------------------
