LifeLab 3.0, September 1995, by Andrew Trevorrow (akt@kagi.com) =============================================================== LifeLab is a laboratory for investigating 2-dimensional cellular automata, the best known example being John Conway's game of Life. See the various topics in "About LifeLab" for more details. New icons --------- LifeLab 3.0 has a new set of icons. If you have an older version then you'll need to rebuild your desktop to see the new icons. Just restart your Mac and hold down the Option and Command keys. Patterns -------- LifeLab is distributed with a large collection of patterns. Most of them were supplied by Dean Hickerson and Alan Hensel. See the "Read Me" files in their corresponding folders for more information. System and memory requirements ------------------------------ LifeLab will run on every Macintosh model from a Mac Plus up to a Power Mac (in native mode), and under any System version from 4.1 up to 7.5. LifeLab is distributed with a preferred memory size of 1000K so that large grids can be created (up to about 1800 by 1800). If you want to create even larger grids then increase LifeLab's preferred memory size using "Get Info" in the Finder's File menu. Shareware fee ------------- If you decide to keep LifeLab, please pay the shareware fee: Australia Rest of the world AUS$10 US$10 (or equivalent amount in your local currency) This is a one-time-only fee that covers you for ALL future versions. The best way to pay is to use the Register program distributed with LifeLab. It lets you pay in various ways and supports all the major credit cards (the cheapest option for people outside Australia). Register is set up for US dollars.
