This program is shareware. The concept of shareware is this: use it for a while, and if you like it, then you pay a small amount for it. This saves us marketing, and you money. You won't be paying advertisers or publishers, just a small amount to the people who created this program. MacEmatics is a tiered learning math tool. Simply put, this program has many levels of learning and difficulty. At any time you can change the upper limits for a test set by typing COMMAND - L. This will bring up a dialog box asking you to set the following: ¥ Highest number you want to see for the Addition/Subtraction test with the current limit shown as a default number. If you only wish to change the multiplication/division test limit, simply press the return key and type a new number in the next dialog box. ¥ Highest number you want to see for the Multiplication/Division test. The current limit for this test is displayed. For levels 4 and 5, the division limit is higher to allow a wider variety of numbers (this way there are no remainders and more than 3 or so possible answers). Whatever you put here will be the limit for all multiplication and division tests until you "Reset Test" or change the limits. ¥ New feature for this version: Also, in this window, you can select how text is formatted in the answer box. For instance, let us imagine that you wanted the numbers to follow the "tens" style. We normally look at the last numbers, add/subtract them and put the number in the "ones" column. Then you add the numbers in the "tens" column, etc. This would yield a result of 12345 turning into 54321 as you type it. (assuming 54321 was the answer, you would type 1 because it is the answer for the "ones" column, 2 because it was the answer for the "tens" column, etcetera. This is the button labeled "Left". If you press "Right", then you go back to the standard way of having text entered from the left to the right. There is a "Help" button to remind you which one goes where. If you accidently set something wrong, just click on "Reset Test" in the main window. Simple!, everything else is handled automatically! If you have any questions or requests, please mail them to the addresses below. The preset limits for each level is listed in the table below: Level Addition Subtraction Multiplication Division 1 20 20 5 5 2 100 100 10 10 3 9999 9999 15 30 4 55555 55555 20 60 5 99999 99999 25 100 This program represents a lot of time and effort on our part, and we ask that if you use MacEmatics that you pay $8.95 (no sales tax!) to one of the two addresses below: U.S. Funds, please.
