What is the Hungry Frog Series? The Hungry Frog series is a series of related educational games. Other Hungry Frog games include two math Hungry Frog games, one teaching elementary counting skills and the other advanced math topics from addition to absolute value equations. In chemistry, there is the Hungry Frog Ion Eaters game teaching ion formulas, names and charges. ........................... What is Integer Eaters? Integer Eaters is a simple to learn color (or B&W) real-time animated multimedia game which makes the learning of the sequence of integers on the number line fun, and uses feedback loops to focus instruction on areas of difficulty. You (or your child) can select options of learning to count up or count down using positive numbers only or both negative numbers and positive numbers. Throughout the course of the game audio and visual aids direct your child on the quest for a new high score! The players object is to keep the Hungry Frog colony breeding by helping them eat flies flying overhead. When the frogs eat a lot they make tadpoles, and tadpoles sometimes change into frogs to move the game up to the next level. Both game difficulty and speed are fully adjustable, so beginners or experienced counters can both have fun. ........................... How do you play? To play, just double click on the application icon. Once the game starts, clicking on a frog gives you control of the frog's tongue. You must hold the mouse button down and drag the tongue to a fly, then release the mouse button. If you are playing "count up" the number of the fly must be the next integer after the number of the mouse. (For example, Frog +1 eats Flies +2 in count up; Frog +1 eats Flies 0 in count down). If the player releases the tongue on the correct fly, the frog will suck up the fly and eat it, if not you'll see what happens. (Note: Level 1 starts with only a single frog, so you can practice your mouse skills and start out by getting everything correct - there's no way to be wrong on level 1!) You can also start at a more advanced level of play, if you wish. You remain in the game as long as you have tadpoles (the little swimmers swimming around with the frogs). The tadpoles die, as well as grow into new frogs (when this happens you go up a level) so you have to be sure to keep eating (the more you eat, the more tadpoles you get), or you may run out of tadpoles and the game will end. ........................... What's the current version of the Program? The current version is v2.0 (2/5/94) If you want the non-guilt inducing version of the game, print the form you are prompted to print when the game ends (or you quit) and mail it in. ........................... What computer setup do I need? The game has been tested to work with System 7.0.1* or higher, and shouldn't care what Mac it runs on - but color Macs are much nicer. You can run in B&W, 4 colors, 16 colors or 256 colors, or 1000's of colors all at any window size up to a two page display (1152x870 pixels). Feel free to resize (or zoom) the window to any size you like, that's why the size box is there! Apple didn't implement resizable windows for nothing, you know. ........................... Last but not least, SEND ME COMMENTS ON THE GAME! If you have any problems with this game, like crashing or weird behavior, SEND ME A COMPLAINT SO I CAN FIX THE PROBLEM! The game works on all the systems I've checked it out on (more and more!), but I can't anticipate everything.
