Robert Moore Department of Mathematics University of Washington Seattle, WA 98195 moore@math.washington.edu A Comprehensive and Transportable Interactive Linear Algebra Text using Maple I plan to work with Gene Herman (Grinnell), Jim King (U of W) and Mike Pepe (Seattle Central CC) to extend existing linear algebra materials to a comprehensive class/lab package, portable between the Windows, Macintosh, and XWindows/Motif unix environments, and adaptable to learning environments on our three campuses. It is our goal to enhance graphics/visualization, "small group collaborative learning," "write-to-learn," and "sparsely- symbolic vector-matrix computation." The text will be in Maple and will utilize interfaces such as MathKit/MathWright, Scientific Workplace and the Word 6.0 Notebook front end for Matlab 4.2 and its Extended Symbolic ToolBox. .
