Kaller, Eileen L 26 Woodside Park Blvd. Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069 Visualizing functions: An interactive Intermediate Algebra Text Designed to help both college students in remedial mathematics classes and others interested in better understanding of functions and their graphs this interactive text will consist of stand alone units where topics arc demonstrated using animation and other visual cues. The focus will be on user exploration or review activities and on real world applications. Online support is to be provided in the form of a glossary and pop-up screens with additional explanation. Check point exercises and solutions, as well as those for additional practice will be available. Units include: * reading domain and range from graphs * functional notation * evaluation of functions * differences quotients * determining intercepts, functional value at a point, maximum or minimum points from graphs * exponential and logarithmic functions * absolute value * graphs of "special" functions * graphs of individual linear inequalities and systems * nonlinear systems of equations * translation and reflection of graphs and related changes in the defining functions * sign analysis charts * rational functions * polynomial functions .
