Labs for Calculus and Precalculus



My project is composed of two handbooks, one Precalculus and the other 

Calculus. The handbooks focus on the applications of Precalculus and 

Calculus with the outline of the chapters following the books we are using 

for these two courses. Precalculus is using the Advanced Math, by Richard 

G. Brown, Houghton-Miifflin and the Calculus is using the Finney, Thomas, 

Demana, Waits, Calculus, Graphical Numerical, Algebraic, Addison-Wesley.



The purpose of the project is to provide computer lab problems covering the 

specific topics of the course, that use the computer interactive 

environment to solve application problems. For each chapter and section of 

the book there are computer lab problems on the same topic. Since the 

Precalculus book has teeny chapters, and each chapter has many sections, I 

have not completed it, but plan to have the students help finish the 

handbook this year. Built into the handbook will be research topics that 

the students then will do in the Mathcad environment after they do the 

labs. They will then present to the class in Mathcad solutions to the labs 

and their research topics.
