Precalculus and Business Calculus in MathKit



The focus of our interactive text project is lower level mathematics 

courses at the collegiate level, in particular precalculus, business 

calculus with applications, and elementary algebra.  We have been 

working with Mathkit on two platforms, Mathwright and Multimedia 

Toolbook 3.0. We have initial versions of multimedia books that 

explore optimization, the fence problem and a box volume problem.  

These modules use both video and audio clips to describe the physical 

problem.  The student is then encouraged to write the corresponding 

mathematical model and to consider the solution from a 

numerical(tables), analytic (calculus), and visual (graphical) 

viewpoint.
