For the last four years, the University of Nevada, Reno has been implementing a comprehensive plan called Mathematics Across the Curriculum. Its goal is to make the learning and appreciation of mathematics a shared responsibility on campus by enhancing the mathematics components of a wide range of courses, especially in the core curriculum.

The project has created a laboratory containing 30 microcomputers networked to a file server equipped with various mathematics and statistics software for use by undergraduate students. The lab is staffed and managed in a Mathematics Center whose director works with faculty both inside and outside the Mathematics Department to enhance the role of mathematics and technology in their courses and to assist students in coping with mathematics-related assignments.
