RODY BORG and MARILYN REPSHER Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL 32211 TEAM, An Interdisciplinary Course in Mathematics and Economics TEAM, Technology, Economics, Active Learning, and Mathematics, is a two-semester course in which freshmen and sophomores study Principles of Economics fully integrated with two required courses in mathematics, a course in finite mathematics and the fundamentals of calculus and an elementary statistics course. Students work in pairs on a series of projects designed to develop concepts in economics together with the mathematics required for complete understanding. There is no separation between economics and mathematical topics. Emphasis is placed on writing and collaborative learning. Each pair of students has a computer equipped with word processing, spreadsheet, and computer algebra packages. The paper describes the TEAM curriculum, the achievements and challenges of the program, current assessment data, and a sample of student projects.
