Secondary mathematics instruction costs about $50 billion annually worldwide, mostly for salaries. Self-paced, intelligent, interactive, multi-media, multi-language instructional software supporting individual needs will inevitably improve and proliferate. Math faculty will face difficult moral and political choices when confronting provably more effective instructional software.
