Extending Calculus Reform to Prealgebra

ABSTRACT

The paper discusses construction of modeling type problems on topics in Prealgebra - percent, signed numbers, equations, ratio and proportion that connect systematically elementary and advanced concepts extending "Calculus Reform" to Prealgebra. The approach has been class-tested for three semesters starting Spring 1996 by more than 400 students each semester.
