ABSTRACT
By examining simulations of models taken from the literature, our students, with just one year of calculus as preparation, have reached a surprising level of understanding of both continuous and discrete dynamical systems. Maple is used as a tool of investigation, minimizing the computational hurdles, but at the same time conveying the essential mathematical and biological ideas.
