The TI-92 can make the analytic perspective a full partner with the numerical and graphical. We have a machine that not only can do symbolic manipulation but can also teach it. The TI-92 can be used to teach symbol use and symbol manipulation from the first days of algebra instruction. This paper presents some examples and ideas on how this can be accomplished.
